In today’s world, what you do, what you use and how you dispose of things affects everything around you. It is important to be mindful of those you encounter and your impact on the Earth. From recycling your soda cans to riding a bike instead of driving, these little things actually add up to something much greater and will benefit you for years to come.
When comparing regular cigarettes and electronic cigarettes there is waste for both. However, regular cigarettes produce much more waste than e-cigs do. One regular e-cigarette is equal to about 1.5 packs of traditional cigarettes. That is approximately 30 cigarette butts that will have to be disposed of. The chances of them actually getting properly disposed of or recycled is very low. Cigarette butts actually account for 37% of highway litter, based on the number of pieces per mile of roadway. And while many people actually think cigarette butts are bio-degradable, they are not. The problem is not just the litter, but also the toxicity the butts release into the environment.
Currently, there are various public efforts taking off in starting recycling programs for cigarette butts. Everything from cities paying a penny per butt to fining $100 for littering, proper cigarette disposal is on everyone’s radars.
One way to stay off of the cigarette butt radar is with the electronic cigarette.
Not only do e-cigarettes reduce the amount of waste, you won’t find people just throwing their used batteries or cartridges on the ground. In fact, METRO Electronic Cigarettes actually offer a recycling program for their used cartridges and batteries.
Turn in 3 dead batteries or 3 used disposables and you’ll get one FREE, respectively. Also, METRO offers the consumer to be able to recycle their used cartridges where you get 3 FREE cartridges for recycling 30 used ones.
Do your part and get rewarded with METRO Electronic Cigarettes.
October was Breast Cancer Awareness month. A month that has seen a lot of publicity across our nation for many, many years. Movember is not a new concept, but is finally gaining ground across the nation as a national awareness for prostate and testicular cancer. During October we get all excited about saving the tatas (and don’t get us wrong, if you remember our post from last month, Breast Cancer Awareness hits really close to home here at METRO), but then what about men who suffer from cancers that are specific to them? Well, men across the nation are taking a stand for Movember, including our office (those are our men to the left from last year’s Movember competition)!
So, you ask, what is Movember then? Movember is a movement in which men grow out their mustache’s for the month of November in order to create awareness for men’s health. “With their mo’s, these men raise vital awareness and funds for men’s health issues, specifically prostate and testicular cancer initiatives.” (Us.Movember.com) The idea is to seek out sponsorships for your mo growing efforts in order to raise funds for mean’s health organizations.
At METRO we are doing it a little different. The men in our office have already started participating in Movember (as they did last year) but our way of asking for sponsorship from you, is to offer you a discount for our CAMO Designer Pack and Midnight Designer Packs during the month of Movember only. Then, we will donate 10% of those purchases to our local prostate cancer awareness foundation. Even if you are not a fan of black or camo, we appreciate your participation in Movember!
Have a great month as we help change the face of men’s health!
If you are interested in learning more about Movember or even signing up to be a Mo Bros, visit Us.Movember.com/About for more details.

It looks like our contest fans got a little “lazy” this week and forgot to enter into the contest in order to increase their chances to win! The entrants this week were very minimal and we were sad to see not many of you wanted to enter again in order to double your chances to win a Re-Charge Pack. We are hoping to see more of you enter this week! As a note, this will be our last week of offering a Re-Charge Pack as a giveaway item. Next Monday, the giveaway item(s) will change, so hurry and enter now!
But, with that said, we would like to give a round of applause to our friend, and loyal customer, Cyndee Munroe! Thank you so much for entering this week, Cyndee, for a chance to win. Now you are the brand new owner of a Re-Charge Pack that will make charging your e-cig on the go, easier than ever. If you would like to read more about our Re-Charge Pack, please visit this link to our Re-Charge Pack Product Page.
At your earliest convenience, we ask that you reach out to our Electronic Cigarette Customer Service Department so that they can verify all your information before shipping your product. They can be reached by phone at 888-NICOTEK, via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or via our Live Chat by visiting our website and clicking on the “Get Help” tab at the top right of any page. Congratulations again!
For those entrants that were not lucky winners, remember that Cyndee’s name has now been removed from the “pot of names” and she will have to re-enter for the contest again. However, if you go and enter now (and you already entered last week or the week before), you will have double the chances to win next week! So, get to entering – even you Cyndee! Click this Contest link in order to enter again.
This is the first week of METRO contests after we initiated the new contest rules last week. We had many new entrants this week and we are excited to see the turnout! Just in case you missed last week’s new contest rules, I will briefly outline the rules and if you still have questions, you can visit the “new contest rules” link above. The change to the rules is that the “pot of names” will continue to grow each week instead of starting fresh each week. If you enter this week and next week (and don’t win), your name will be in the “pot” twice and will continue to be added until you win. When you win, your name will be removed from the “pot” altogether and you will have to start over! So, it is important to enter every single week in order to grow your chances of winning.
With that said, it’s time to announce the winner for this week. This week our lucky Re-Charge Pack winner is Alison Workman! Please remember, Alison, that since you won this week, your name is being removed from the “pot” and you will be required to enter again this week if you want to be in the running for next week. To everyone else, your name is already in the pot, but now is the time to go enter again and have your name in the pot two times for next week’s drawing. Please visit our Facebook Contest Page to enter now.

Before we get started with the announcement of the contest winner, lets start with the new rules. We want everyone to have the best chance possible to win cool e-cig products each week so we will be changing the way names are drawn each week. Right now we use only the current week’s signups to draw names, using Random.org. We are now going to be combining each week’s winners so that if you enter every single week, your chances of winning are better. This new method starts today though – we will not be going back to week’s past and compiling all the names from our contests before today’s date. We want everyone to have a fair start on this.
Once you have been drawn as a winner for one of our contests, your slate will be wiped clean and you will have to start over again though. This gives all new Facebook fans and new entrants a fair chance at winning too. This does not mean that you cannot enter again, it just means that you start over with your name in the running only once after you’ve won – instead of several times.
Example: If you enter for this week’s ReCharge Pack contest, you will have your name in the “pot” once. If you enter again for the contest next week, your name will now be in the “pot” twice – therefore doubling your chances of winning. Each week that passes gives you a better chance to win. Once your name has been drawn as a winner, we will remove all past instances of your name from the drawing and you will have to start over by entering for the “first time” again.
Hopefully that all makes sense, but feel free to contact me, Jessica, with any questions at email@example.com!
Now, for this week’s Re-Charge Pack Winner! We are excited to announce a long time customer, Matt Marion, as our winner of the Re-Charge Pack this week. Congratulations, Matt! They can be reached by phone at 888-NICOTEK, via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or via our Live Chat feature on our website (top right corner that says “Get Help” on any page of the website). Good luck to all! And have fun!
Breast cancer, along with many other cancers, have rocked the lives of many of us and many of our loved ones. Almost every person alive knows someone that has been affected by a type of cancer or another, be it skin cancer, breast cancer, pancreatic cancer, or one of various other kinds. We here at METRO Electronic Cigarette have had one of our own affected by breast cancer. We are proud to say that she is now a breast cancer survivor. So, in honor of one of our fearless leaders and her strength throughout her battle, we are celebrating Breast Cancer Awareness Month for the month of October.
We would like to offer our Chick Stick Designer Pack at a 10% discount to you, or if you already have the designer pack and would like to add a pink swirl battery to your collection, we are also offering 10% off pink batteries. In addition to this great deal, we will also be donating 10% of all Chick Stick Designer Pack and Pink Swirl Battery purchases to our local Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation.
Even if pink is not really your color, we ask that you help us help our community of survivors and fighters, this October. Please do your part and purchase a pink battery or Chick Stick Designer Pack so that we can donate 10% to help change lives, or better yet, find a cure!
Monday afternoon’s are definitely becoming our favorites as we get to announce new winners every week and hear how excited you all get. So put your hands together for another winner of the Re-Charge Pack Contest!
Our winner this week is Margie Lozada! Hey, Margie, you won a Re-Charge Pack! Customer Service is waiting for you to contact them about your winner status. They have your address, however they would like you to call and confirm your information before we ship everything out. Please contact them at 888-NICOTEK, via email at email@example.com or feel free to live chat with them directly on our website (not from a mobile phone though).
For those that are new to the Re-Charge Pack contest, Margie is the luck winner if a “charge on the go” pack that comes equipped with an internal battery, 2 rechargeable ecig batteries and fold away prongs. It is capable of holding one full e-cig (with cartridge and battery attached), one battery in the charging port and 3 cartridges. Decisions, decisions. So you are new to electronic cigarettes and you don’t know which e-cigarette option is best for you. You have the disposable option which seems reasonable because you are used to throwing away your cigarette anyway, but there’s this really cool rechargeable option too. This probably leaves you feeling much like our friend on the left here.
No need to fret though! We are going to take some time to break down the difference so you can make the most informed decision possible.
We will start with Disposable Electronic Cigarettes since the majority of our readers have probably been introduced to these first by way of a gas station or even a friend. A disposable electronic cigarette is almost exactly what it sounds like. You use it until it is dead and then you just throw it away. For many, this is a great option because it provides the convenience of not having to remember to charge your battery. There is no untwisting the battery from the cartridge. You simply open the package, puff and then find the nearest receptacle bin and throw it out (or there are some recycling options as well but most disposable users are not recyclers). Here is a list of Pros and Cons:
- Less up front cost (start at $7.99)
- Often more accessible at convenience stores
- Very similar to an analog cigarette (traditional tobacco) smoking habit
This is where the story gets a little more complicated and perhaps more time consuming. Rechargeable Electronic Cigarettes are definitely a more cost effective solution but there are a lot more parts involved and a little more “responsibility” that goes along with them. You have to buy your rechargeable e-cigs in a “kit” that comes with various components that are needed to keep the e-cig juiced and alive! We will keep it simple for the sake of this post. A small starter kit comes with 1 battery, 2 cartridges and charger (for ours it is a USB charger that you can plug into your computer, laptop, PlayStation, etc.). All the pieces are separate when you open the kit and they typically come in a case of sorts. Most of the time the battery only comes partially charged so it is recommended that you immediately connect the battery to the charger and plug that in first. After a few hours, you then disconnect the battery from the charger and connect a cartridge. That is when the vaping experience begins. Not quite as simple as a disposable option. But in a sense, the “throw away” concept is similar because when the cartridge runs out of flavor you then throw the cartridge away and replace just the cartridge, instead of throwing the whole thing away. Then you purchase only refill cartridges instead of entire disposables. Below is a list of Pros & Cons:
- Very cost effective (save yourself thousands a year from traditional smoking)
- Recyclable (we have a Recycling Exchange Program you should read about)
- Very similar to smoking an analog cigarette
- Can order online or at grocery/convenience stores
- Not as convenient as a disposable
- Cartridge strengths not always as accessible in stores
Now that is a very, very shortened version of the difference between a disposable and rechargeable electronic cigarette but hopefully it provides you with some insight into which option is the best for you. See this link to see more about what an electronic cigarette is and where it really came from.
